My lessons from the movie Sultan, 8 July 2016
Why watch movie #Sultan - It is 2:46 AM in New Zealand but couldn’t stop myself to write to you in a hope that may be those of you who decided not to watch Sultan for so many reasons, catch it up over the weekend.
So here it goes... :)
If you liked movies like Chak de and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, it is highly likely you will like Sultan too. The movie is soulful and will remain with you for a long time. May be lifetime. There are many messages that Sultan perpetuates. Each one of you will derive whichever will suit best to your life situations.
- If you have a dream, do not stop until you have achieved it.
- No other but only you can fail yourself.
Just like you, it’s not the first time I heard about these life lessons. There are plethora of stories and examples that motivates us to never give up. But it is also true, no matter how many times, we have read or heard the same motivational quotes and stories, we are motivated no less despite the repetition. Sultan is also a beautiful yet powerful attempt that motivates us, teaches us to remain grounded and most importantly echoes loud enough to us to keep our family on top of our life priorities.
It is a story that will grow on you for all the right reasons. If not much, than it will be no less than good that you will do to yourself, if you watch it. Trust me.
The indomitable zeitgeist of Sultan will bolster your belief on yourself and your dream.
Stellar performance by the actors and brilliant casting will leave you wanting for more. If I perched on my seat for the second half of the movie, I laughed my heart out all through and couldn’t leave without bleary eyes.
#AnushkaSharma, #SalmanKhan, boy who played SalmanKhan’s friend, #RandeepHooda, man who played AnushkaSharma’s dad, #AmitSadh and entire cast and crew of movie #Sultan, thanks for making Sultan. The hard work put in is resonating loud and clear. Congratulations to the director #AliAbbasZafar.

Will it be more difficult than breaking a mountain, 22 August 2015
Shaandaar. Zabardast. Zindabad... says Dashrath Manjhi #ManjhiTheMountainMan
Feeling grateful to be born in a country where Dashrath Manjhi was born. All by himself, this one man for 22 years with a hammer and chisel broke a mountain for everyone to carve out a path for love.
He cut off his thumb when a snake bit him while breaking the mountain. During drought he licked the dry plants for water and to retain moisture in his body slept inside a dry well. But unlike others didn't leave the village for he had to break the mountain. He was going to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister but when he was thrown out of train, he right away started walking on the railway track to go to Delhi. Wore a cap of polythene, used plastic banner as a blanket, was laughed upon, was beaten up, was humiliated, was injured but come what may, he did not deter from his goal of breaking the mountain.
He was often visited by a journalist. Journalist complained he didn't have freedom to do what he wanted in his job. Manjhi recommends him to start his own newspaper. Journalist replies, it isn't that easy!
Will it be more difficult than breaking a mountain? Dashrath Manjhi asks him.
And years later the journalist starts his newspaper. I am sure our dreams are also not as difficult as breaking a mountain.
Thank you #KetanMehta, #NawazuddinSiddiqui #RadhikaApte and the entire team of the movie #ManjhiTheMountainMan for inspiring me for life. I cant thank you all enough to bring to me Dashrath Manjhi's question ''Will it be more difficult than breaking a mountain?'' #Inspired
The legend of Mountain Man Dashrath Manjhi lives on... and will strengthen if we all despite failures remain determined to fulfill our dreams.

PIKU, 10 May 2015
Loved #Piku Yes, a movie on a subject like constipation can make you laugh until you have tears in your eyes and it can also make you literally cry at the same time.
What a brilliant craft with attention to details that has not been seen in a long time. You have won a fan in me #ShoojitSircar. Everything about the movie is so special and very different from our regular bollywood movies. A trendsetter it sure is going to be just like the recent movies #Kahaani, #VickyDonor and the likes.
#IrrfanKhan again very effortlessly slipped in his role and did the magic with his one liners. #DeepikaPadukone will make you fall in love with a beautiful daughter that she is to her father. And anything said for #AmitabhBachchan is less. The expression of thoughts and emotions of this bengali father may be quirky but he has a point you see. It shows in everything, his loves for his daughter #Piku and deceased wife, his fondness for his sister-in-law, his way in which he introduces his daughters to prospective grooms, his respectful thoughts about women - independent and decision makers and lastly but most importantly his emotions for his motion. #MoushumiChatterjee the movie could not be same without you. Loved watching you. You were, you are and you will be the sweetest speaking person.
